Olá! I’m Jen, a travel writer based in the Azores.
As of 2026, I am proud to say I have finally visited all nine islands. I have lived in the archipelago since 2019 and, over the years, have hosted dozens of visitors from around the world.
Almost everyone has asked me some version of the same question: Can you recommend a book or website that provides a decent overview of the Azores: its geology, history, culture, cuisine, and what life is really like there? Something beyond lists of hotels, restaurants, and things to do?
When I started looking, I realized that information about the archipelago is quite fragmented. Many websites and travel blogs focus mainly on São Miguel. And not many resources are created by people actually living in the islands.
I am creating Nine Islands Azores and its accompanying social media channels to help fill the gap. My goal is to tell the richer, more nuanced story of these remarkable islands for those planning a visit or a move — and for those who prefer to explore remotely.
